Mannikin | “Stuck in Paradise”, An EP With Electric Potential
Rap Fiesta is hype to welcome Mannikin and his latest project, “Stuck in Paradise,” to the platform. The Queens, New York rapper just dropped the six-track EP that’s filled with textured songs and artistry you don’t wanna pass up on.
Mannikin drew inspiration for “Stuck in Paradise” from some of the greats in the hip-hop and R&B world. Lyrically, the New York rapper attests he was inspired by the late XXXTentacion and his admirable storytelling ability in earlier albums. Further, Mannikin was motivated by Khalid and The Weeknd‘s earlier albums when it came to his vocal dynamics.
Mannikin’s polished sound can be attributed to his dedication to his craft. Since 2012, the artist has been writing music. This extensive time practicing writing lyrics is apparent in the smooth-moving bars he lays down throughout the recent project. Further, Mannikin has been recording music since 2019 and is only getting better with each project he releases.
Throughout “Stuck in Paradise,” you’ll find yourself vibing with whatever Mannikin throws at you. In songs like “Good Times,” the rapper presents a more upbeat vibe. A Latin-inspired bass pattern offers an uplifting energy, while Mannikin’s soothing vocal runs present a juxtaposing haunting element. Although it may initially seem like the two vibes couldn’t blend cohesively, Mannikin’s production skills and aesthetically pleasing flow hit the ears just right.
Another heater of Mannikin’s album is “Lady in the Painting.” In this song, the artist puts his singing voice on full display, showing just how far his talents stretch. Over a chill beat, Mannikin depicts a heartbreaking story as he cries out for help from a “lady in the painting.” Overall, this song carries a very solemn tone that hits the soul harder, given Mannikin’s overlapping vocal runs and haunting edits that give his cadence an extra creepy vibe.
One last song we’ll highlight in “FYF.” On this track, don’t be surprised if you find yourself entirely hypnotized by the incredibly textured chorus. Mannikin hits your soul with an overwhelming soulful blend of vocal runs that are only the tip of the iceberg on “FYF.”
Just as unique as his music are the meanings behind Mannikin’s stage name. One meaning is tied to what a mannequin is; a dummy that can wear any set of clothes. That said, Mannikin strives to make music that can reach everyone and anyone who’s ever experienced what he describes with his lyrics.
The other meaning tied to his stage name is a little more personal.
Manni is my name, and my community behind me is all considered my “Kin,” which means my family. So [for lack of] better words, my followers and supporters are my family!, Mannikin, on the origin of his stage name.
Make sure you give Mannikin a follow onInstagram, as the artist is only putting in work going forward. In addition to creating music videos for the tracks on “Stuck in Paradise,” Mannikin looks forward to performing live as often as possible. Additionally, the rapper is working on his upcoming project as we speak!
