Monster The Savage | “Major Life Advice”
Oftentimes, it’s not easy to resonate with an artist. This scenario presents itself most when musicians boast about their excess cash flow, lavish lifestyle, or the plethora of foreign models at their beck and call (heavy on the misogyny). Yet, when we find that one musician that seemingly gets us, they stand out in the rapshere and provide fanbases with a fresher sound. Monster The Savage, a rapper from South Side Jamaica, Queens, fits that percentage as he uses his world view and life experiences to educate fans about how to move in certain situations.
“I’ve always had a universal perspective on life and human beings. I’ve applied this same perspective to my music,” he continues.
In a nutshell, Monster The Savage boldly details what he’s seen and heard along with life lessons. Additionally, the “Clan Shit” musician keeps an optimistic view when reaching for the stars. Sonically, Monster The Savage sticks to his roots, all while garnering assistance from aggressive soundscapes and a heavy bassline. Not to mention, he delivers with a fast or bouncy cadence.
“I talk about how important it is to ‘get your weight up’ or ‘hold your own’ with few role models around,” he adds.
One song of his that speaks volume about his upbringing and these other themes is called “Get On Your Feet.” The smash-hit, which features Flawless Leone, sees Monster encountering trying situations that were, at most, lethal. Writing, for Monster The Savage, is his safe haven away from life’s constant demands. Growing up, he’d write to songs by Three 6 Mafia, Norega, Capone, DJ Scoop Mixtapes, EGK, Tampa Tony, and City Boy.
He recalls when he and his neighbor sat in his room and listened to the radio,
“I had a boombox my mother brought me for Christmas. My friend Danny and I would listen to Hot 97 in the afternoon after school. We’d wait until the song looped so we could rap on the beat later because I didn’t have the beat,” he says.
His notable accomplishment includes being signed to King Juice Entertainment, premiering on Jack Thriller 16 Or Better, and taking part in another hot Newley single.
Monster The Savage’s latest banger, “Major Life Advice,” is a trap hip-hop offering. Subsequently, it links video game elements with spacey electro synths, hi-hats, and 808’s.
Lyrically, Monster The Savage explains how some words to live by changed his life for the better. Elsewhere, he goes in about having trust issues, keeping a small circle that’ll ride for him at all cost, getting to the bag, and how he’ll put arrogance to rest. Not to mention, Monster The Savage raps about his female preference, saying, “You talk the drama, my girl talk back with the cannon lip.” The closing sees “Major Life Advice” going the chopped and screwed route as Monster delivers the chorus effortlessly, “Since I turned Savage, guess I’m looking unfamiliar,” he declares.
Moving forward, Monster The Savage will be adding the finishing touches to his EP, BACK TO THE 1500. The forthcoming project will touch on Monster The Savage’s experience as he returns to his hometown after being displaced as a youth.
