Muna | ‘City Lights’ | The Weeknd…and Weekday
Every couple of weeks, take a step back and examine your life. Are you predictable? Even worse, are you ‘Kyrie Irving not wanting to play basketball again’ predictable? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, it’s time to shake things up. Today on Rap Fiesta, I have for you an artist not classified as a rapper. Muna‘s new single “City Lights” is the product of some filthy RnB and House/Dance interbreeding, but if the sex was really delicate and Ariana Grande was playing in the background the whole time.
Amazingly, Muna’s voice is both ethereal and strong. A majority of dance music uses a significant amount of autotune, and within the genre that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, when you get a taste of that immaculate, au natural sound, damn it’s hard to go back. Muna’s RnB essence mixed with the dance heavy production makes “City Lights” perfect for literally any setting.
“Can we go to Vegas? Miami? …put it on replay. Cruisin’ on the highway, you with me? Under the city lights…I just wanna go back.”
Muna knew exactly what he was doing. The only explanation is that a Vegas DJ, a Miami frat house, a California hippie, and a New York rooftop vibe specialist all came to Muna for a song and he said: “you know what, I think I have something for all of you.”
Muna is just getting started. His voice alone is a clear indicator of serious star power and he’s already performed in places such as Paris, Munich, and Miami. Go check him out right now, or don’t. Either way he’ll be lighting up your city in no time.
