O Dawg I ‘Facing Factzz’, Old School Sound from a Young Flatbush Native
O Dawg’s new single ‘Facing Factzz” delivers old school flavor with a modern twist. Odisee Harrison III better known as O Dawg or O.D is a 23 year old rapper from Flatbush Brooklyn. In 2016 he became a part of a music collective known as “Krookz” where he began writing and officially releasing music. He released his first EP “Bliss” with his first single “Grandslam”. His style as an artist is derived from old school New York rap. All of his music has a classic, unique, old school New York sound reminiscent of Nas, early Jay-Z and Jadakiss. One of his modern influences is Kendrick Lamar.
With his two new singles “Fabriccs” and “Facing Factzz,” O Dawg aims to show growth and versatility. “Fabriccs” is an fast semi-drill style beat showcasing O Dawg’s unique ability to create a flow to match every record and melt with the track perfectly. “Fabriccs” is the O Dawg take on drill music including arrogant bars with subtle aggression. The flow on this beat is similar to Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat” Freestyle and it has a similar concept, combining lyricism with an underground sound.
“Facing Factzz,” has more of a traditional old-school New York flow with an updated structure. The song has a lot of variation in both the beat and the flow. The lyrics showcase’s O Dawg’s incredible story telling abilities.
“Close the window, Pops told me as the shots rang outdoors.
He ain’t know I held my first grip when I was four.”
In that one bar he is able to paint a vivid scene, with characters and a back story. O Dawg’s storytelling on “Facing Factzz” is further highlighted in the music video. Watch “Facing Factzz” below!
