Otto Rocket Wit the Dread Flow | ‘Free Throw’ An Ode to the Bronx, a Toast to the Future
Coming off of the release of his most recent project titled, ‘A Rose Grew from Concrete,’ Otto Rocket Wit the Dread Flow represents the underdog in a way not too many can. One song that stood out us to us over here at Rap Fiesta is titled, ‘Free Throw.’ This song encapsulates the message of the entire project in its entirety while simultaneously gelling the overall sonic landscape. Not only does the New York native prove he is more than capable with rapping along side some of the best in the game, Otto portrays some of the struggles and obstacles he has had to go through to get to where he is in life.
‘Every time I took a L, it’s just a lesson learned. Had to put my hand in the fire so I know how it burn.’
Inspired by moving out of the hood, a place in which he has lived the past 26 years, ‘Free Throw,’ is symbolic for his appreciation at a second chance. The uplifting and high-spirited song is an ode to his past and his memories in the Bronx. The song also represents how the challenges he experienced, and the lessons he has learned have paved a way for him to understand how to achieve a brighter future.
Otto’s project is produced by multiple engineers, but is all mixed and mastered by long time friend and frequent collaborator, 60 Hertz. The two have been friends and have musically inspired each other since high school. From rapping in the hallways, to working on dozens of songs together, their relationship is what music is all about: Having fun and creating art with people you enjoy creating art with.
If you’re wondering why Otto Rocket sounds so polished, it is because the emcee has put in the hours and spent the last 8 years in the studios. He knew he was destined to pursue a career in music after receiving recognition and acknowledgement from his fellow peers and classmates back in high school. Everything after that is history.
With growing numbers on both Spotify and Apple Music, Otto has some big and strategic plans ahead of him. With another project in the works, you can expect to hear new music from the motivated artist in the next 3-4 months. Be on the lookout for a few new visuals he plans on releasing as well. He plans to continue educating and motivating anyone who has ever gone through a rough period in their lives.
