Sakorey | ‘Summer Don’t You Leave’, Velvety Smooth Jam
“Summer don’t you leave.” Damn bro, summer barely even started! Sakorey captures the feelings of all members of the warm weather squad in his new single “Summer Don’t You Leave.” The beat is simple, but sometimes less really is more. Sakorey successfully executes that convertible driving along the edge of a cliff vibe that really only happens in commercials, but you get the point. Are you taking out your boat in a Miami harbor? Are you hosting a Sunday evening barbecue? Are you trying to have a wild night for the last time with your “summer fling” that you both pretended could make it through cuffing season but subconsciously you know this one’s for closure? Sakorey has the perfect song for you.
Sakorey’s voice is effortless. He’s got range for days, and to be perfectly honest, I wish he flexed it a little more throughout the song. If I had one critique on “Summer Don’t You Leave,” I would say that for the most part it’s one-tone. Sakorey is talented, that much is evident to any listener of the song, and with a little more inflection and range flaunting he could really put out something resembling that ever elusive summer banger.
What I think is important to note is Sakorey’s path of ascension. I listened to his song “This Time of Year” which came out about a year before “Summer Don’t You Leave.” The improvement in a single year is readily apparent, and impressive. Sakorey sounds overpowered by the beat in “This Time of Year.” It’s like the beat is this giant, in-your-face, fast food hamburger and his vocals are the pleasant but small little pickle that they give you on the side. In “Summer Don’t You Leave” Sakorey comes across crystal clear, the real main attraction, and with a velvety smooth voice like that, clarity is key.
Observing the entire artistic product as a whole, Sakorey has the right idea. The visuals are suave and on-tone with the song and vibe. Vocally, Sakorey has the talent to produce a full R&B project, and act as a Chris Brown type hitmaker within the rap industry, doubling as a hook specialist. While there is work to be done, this Boston native is quickly gaining momentum. Sakorey has been on his grind during the global pandemic and is ready to absolutely explode out of quarantine (not like a rocket though).
