Serious Klein | ‘Ludus’
It takes skill to glide with ease over an instrumental and to top it with impeccable bars. Luckily, Serious Klein has both components down pat.
Possessing the lyrical prowess that’s much needed in today’s oversaturated rap scene, Serious Klein is considered “one of the hottest newcomers in Germany,” according to Alicia Keys. His unique approach to the pen and pad has scored him opportunities to work alongside Bryson Tiller, Denzel Curry, Mick Jenkins, and The Underachievers. He’s also performed at COLORS, not once, but twice! With these points in mind, it’s apparent to see that Serious Klein is surely cementing his spot in the hip-hop industry.
His 6-track project, Ludus is full of bass-driven beats and charged-up energy. From a lyrical standpoint, it holds confident rhymes, warnings for the opps, love ballads, all while diving into his most inner thoughts. Sonically, the album delves into R&B and hip-hop. Ludus only carries one feature from Jay Prince.
In the words of the prolific MC,
“Ludus draws inspiration from the meaning of love throughout the Bible and within Greek culture. It’s a playful, youthful, and naughty deep dive into the intricacies of intimacy.”

One song off the project, “Numero Uno,” sets the tone for the album as he subtly flexes about his unmatched gift of gab over a bass-ridden, energetic, hip-hop beat. Moreso, Serious Klein is here to set the record straight. He’s the “champion in the ring, numero uno.” Whoever tries to step up to him is in for a surprise.
“Your little spit won’t hit, that’s trash/Your little belts won’t fit, I’m mad/Who been the man or the force in here/Hail to them trees just to get things clear.”
Throughout the song, he also addresses bluffers and phonies. In one line, he even says, “You talk high, you ain’t tall as D/Still keep the same mandem with me.”
As a whole, he wants his peers never to forget his notoriety in the hip-hop scene. Stay tuned. Serious Klein intends on dropping a follow-up to Ludus titled LOVE.ALWAYS.
