Sha | ‘Dreamstate’ EP Ooze’s Authenticity
‘Dreamstate‘ by the Hyderabad artist Sha is truly a natural and authentic project. The India native wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered the entire EP, and that in itself demands attention. When an artist is capable of developing their project in every aspect, from start to finish, you owe them your ears. The experimental hip hop displayed in the 5 track EP consists of a plethora of vibes, but mostly those cross between smooth cloud rap and ambient indie. Our favorite track off the project has definitely got to be ‘Gap Kids’.
Day dreams… should of let them go
Right away the melody on ‘Gap Kids’ captivates you. That melodic build up into a symphonic cloud of delight makes you feel calm, and then the harmonic vocals that introduce his verse are a seemingly perfect set up. You can clearly hear the Frank Ocean influence on this joint. His versatility is displayed continuously through switching flows constantly throughout the song. Each piece is a compliment to the preceding bars before them. This one is definitely a stand out.
On ‘Must Be Haunted‘ he opens the track with symphonic, airy vocals that are sprinkled all over the introduction to set you up for a calm vibe. He then displays a fast, but impressively controlled flow which further adds to the diversity of the track. He poses the question consistently through the track, ‘Tell me why it feels so cold in here’, as these lyrics aim to the idea that Sha is slowly leaning towards paranoia in places that used to be kin to him. His heart may have turned cold, but so did his bars.
After this recent drop, Sha has decided to let ‘Dreamstate‘ do its rounds for the time being, and take a quick hiatus to work on a few singles that he plans on rolling out this summer. The project is available on all streaming services.
