Sili K | Continental Artist Transcends Genres with 2 New Tracks
Sili K is an artist that resembles tonalities of Juice WRLD blended in carefully with hints of Akon. He also happens to be from Tanzania and shares that African connection with Akon. Sili K and his family immigrated to Rhode Island at the age of 7 and had to assimilate in modern day America. His vulnerable and recognizable sound is replicated by his hardships that consisted of uprooting his entire life to begin a new existence in an alternate country, while at the same finding and losing love in the process. His vibe is that of a somber one, often developing tracks about past lovers and lessons learned from tumultuous relationships. A topic that the teenage world demographic knows all too well.
The production on this joint is soul touching. The melodic piano keys and chord progression delves deep into nostalgia, and if you couple that with Sili K’s fitting vocals that flirt with the idea of his past love, you have yourself a go to listen. The message found within the track is to live in the moment and feel deeply, thus the title and chorus, “Tonight” was conceived. Sili K is not concerned with what tomorrow holds since he is encapsulated with the idea of having his perfect dream girl.
It’s crazy because I knew that we wouldn’t last
Sili K’s determination to pour his heart and soul to this woman will make you feel the need to tell somebody you love them before it’s too late. If you need a sad banger to bump to and get invested in, definitely check this mans music out.

Hey Sili, its a pleasure to talk to you. Lets jump right in. How old are you and where you from?
I am 19 years old and live in Rhode Island. I was 7 years old when I came into the US on October 30th. I am originally from Tanzania, Africa.
Its pretty admirable to release energy to the world in the way that you do. What motivated you to make music?
My motivation to make music comes from situations that myself and people close to me have gone through, and are still going through. I mainly focus on emotions and real deep topics like the injustice that blacks face everyday as opposed to other artists in my area. I’m very versatile in crafting my songs and I feel like that’s a good thing to have because you don’t want to just stick to one type of genre or music flow.
With a song like ‘Tonight’ it seems that you experienced emotional turmoil. What is the backstory behind that song?
This song tells a story from the time I was 13 years old in the 7th grade. I fell in love with a girl who I thought had the same feelings for me but I didn’t find out until we were 18. From the age of 13 to 18 there was a lot of heartbreaks coming from both sides and so when I was writing “Tonight” , I wanted every line to tell their own little story of how our love for each other came to be in my perspective.
You have a very mellow and vulnerable sound that a lot of people can relate to. Why do you think people gravitate towards your music?
For starters, I think a lot of people can relate to my music because what I talk about is something that we all deal with in our livelihood. Also, I’m from little Rhode Island so the majority of the artists in the state are rappers with the same type of flow as these mainstream rappers and I just want to give a different type of vibe in my music.
I hear a lot of Juice WRLD and Akon in your sound. Who are you most inspired by?
I am most inspired by Chris Brown and the king of pop, Michael Jackson. I can say that out of any artists living or dead, there’s not a day that goes by that doesn’t consist of me listening to Chris Brown or MJ.
In your new song, “Still Think of You” you say “I’m wrong, you’re right.” What did you do to wrong to your girl?
I did so many things wrong and I didn’t admit to my stupidity because I was trying to make myself feel like the victim. I wrote that verse “I’m wrong, you’re right” because as men we don’t like to admit that we make mistakes.
As an up and coming independent artist, what are some of the hardest challenges you face?
Promoting my music is definitely one of the harder challenges I face. Creating a fan base is hard and stressful, but I have a strong team behind me helping me out through this journey.
Do you have any real haters who don’t want to see you win? How do you deal with them?
Of course. There’s always haters out there whether you know them or not, but I will continue to do what I love and they can continue to hate. That’s not going to affect my dreams at all.
Whats next for Sili K?
I will continue to write and record new songs. I will start releasing 1 song each month starting 2019. I will continue to grow my fan base and start releasing music videos very soon. 2018 was a start, even though I started late, but 2019 there is pressure to be pushed.
