Slendo | ‘Sunken Ave’, Lucid, Candy-Like Vocals
Chattanooga rapper Slendo and his latest release “Sunken Ave” fills the air with sonic pleasure. If you’re not familiar with the name, you will be soon. His fun free-flowing energy permeates the entirety of this record & dances along the lines of Lil Uzi & Don Tolliver’s illegitimate child. His vocal range is wide and his execution precise. With abundant versatility on full display, it feels like Slendo is featuring himself on the record.
“I get high as hell cause I dont like lows. I can do this shit with my eyes closed. Posted on the block, duckin 5 O” – Slendo
With moments of pure high-reaching vocals, he transitions in a pin drop’s notice into a sleeker, darker flow that almost sounds like a totally different artist on the record. His illuminating harmonies at the intro of the record puts the listener under Slendo’s spell, and as soon as his candy vocals hit, it’s a wrap. With multiple elements intertwined into one 3-minute record, you’ll be intensely captured throughout the entirety of the track. It’s as if SLENDOHO considered every listeners’ affinity for specific sounds, and touched upon them all to please the world. If you’re a fan of Uzi, J Cole, or Internet Money, then you’ve stumbled to the right record.
Rap Fiesta wanted to know what sparked a record like this intro into fruition, and we were lucky enough to gain comment from Slendo as he told us,
“Just wanting to open up about different things going on in my life personally, as well as wanting to make a different kind of song then what people usually expect from me. The tone of this song is a lot darker than most of my other songs.”
Having only been recording professionally for 2 and a half years, Slendo is quickly finding his sound and the result is scary for the competition. With apparent versatility and lucid-sounding vocals, his potential to storm the music industry is growing rapidly. His moniker is very fitting and catchy as well. Here is how Slendo was born,
“Long story short, I lost a lot of weight after high school (you can’t tell now lol) and one of my friends told me I looked like Slenderman. I told him “I’m Slendo man” & I’ve ran with it ever since. “
With Sunken Ave serving as a potentially ground-breaking record for the artist, his future is bright and his heart is in the right place. His focus is entirely on producing high-quality records for the world to enjoy, along with new visuals to accompany his sonically smooth sounds. Without revealing too much, we might be able to expect a project from Slendo if we’re lucky. Be sure to follow Slendo on Instagram to stay in-tune with his latest drops.
