Sol Miranda | “Summer with Soul”, Designed To Refresh
Sol Miranda is a New York based producer and singer-songwriter, who started his musical journey back in 2014. He spent his early creative years not listening to other artists, in order to further develop his own unique style and sound. Diffusing genres like rap, afro-rap, and r&b, Sol shares stories from his intercounters with his lovers. You will find him diving deep into his emotions, with honest introspectiveness in his lyrics.
Where The Party At?
Summer with Sol EP release party was a blast from the past of early 2000 nostalgia. With help from friends, more like brothers, Sol Miranda had a dream team to help him put together the project and the release party. Ray, known as the other half of Cookies ‘n Cream, hosted at Xhale Lounge where he is an operational manager. Xhale lounge is an event space connected to Altitude Club, a cannabis shop selling flowers, pre-rolls, edibles, and more located in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Xhale lounge held an open bar with an array of appetizing cocktails and mocktails. The refreshing infused strawberry lemonade was a luscious treat to your taste buds. Both ends of the bar had gravity and volcano bongs, prompted as if waiting for a stoner to try it out. Everyone in the audience was given complimentary pre-rolls, setting a high toned energy for the evening.
Sol wasn’t the only talent making their mark- model and photographer, Houda B live painted throughout Sol’s performance. A fiery, orange-red sun grabbed your attention, looking you front and center. An abstract silhouette caressed the left side, while the right was filled with a circle-like motion downward of the sun. An earthly tint of green formed by the layers of bright yellow and skyline blue alluding to what seems like a sunset. Houda shared a few words about her choice of technique before her piece was auctioned off. She channeled the collective’s energy to guide her choice of colors, shapes, and designs. The ability of being present drove the force to create her masterpiece, much like Sol.
Plenty of Songs
Summer with Sol EP is one of his most intricate projects yet! He explained he has a catalog of over 200 songs that he chose from. Sol had help from his friend J.R in selecting which songs compliment each other’s sound and compose a story of events. Each piece was written at a different time, yet curated with an effortless flow of a summer romance. He opens with “Block party” very reminiscent to Jagged Edge’s “Where the party?”, an ‘we outside’ anthem, of people frolicing, searching for a good time. Shortly after “Lovers Rock” serenades you with relaxing tempo and saxophone harmonies to paint two lovers sitting on the mountain side of an island. But things switch up in “Don’t Slide” unveiling tension between the two using the 808s symbolizing bumping of heads and melodic acoustic guitar wanting to keep the peace. It’s not long before realizing the relationship isn’t going to work out, and maybe it’s best to let go, in his song “So Long … And Dance”. Sol thrusts himself into “Plentiful Grace” being reflective of ending his blazing love affair, and cultivating peace.
Sol’s EP is a mixture of Hip Hop meets Reggae and RnB, with his unique vocals and production pulling on your heartstrings, making you want to dance. Sol is relatable in exploring the truth of romantic endeavors sometimes it’s seasonal, and that’s okay. He wants his listeners to embrace their feelings, and experience being human. Being present. Sol Miranda prepares to connect with more people, on a deeper level through the Summer with Sol EP, available on all streaming platforms and stages.
