Soleille | “Pristine”, DMV’s Rap Queen
Straight from the Nation’s Capital, the DMV’s very own, Soleille is out in full force with her latest release, “Pristine”. The versatile “301” artist is making a name for herself, possessing raw vocal talent, true writing ability, and clever rhyming skills as she has been known to wow the audience on several occasions on Tuesday night ‘Fiesta Freestyles’ here at Rap Fiesta. Teaming up with Producer Noah Cuz, “Pristine” is a high energy track, and you don’t want to be left at the station. The complex instrumental, well-thought-out lyrics and Soleille’s powerful vocals come together seamlessly for what may be her best creation yet.
Born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, music has been somewhat of a lifelong endeavor for Soleille but, over the last couple of years she has truly leveled up, taking deliberate steps to hone her skills and advance her career. Dropping October 2020, “Pristine” is the latest of several releases by Soleille this year. She’s definitely on her grind, dropping hits like “Bombay” (June 2020) and “4 the Streetz” ft. MeMo (August 2020). A natural talent on the mic, Soleille has the 1-2 punch ability to wow you with intoxicating vocals during a chorus and then stun you with quick-hitting rap lyrics on the very next verse, a potent combination for any Hip-Hop artist.
Soleille’s love for music and singing goes back to childhood, writing her first song when she was 7 years old. A friend took notice of her passion and the rest, as they say, is history. When asked about the inspiration for the “Pristine” record, Soleille explained:
“I’ve been working really hard these past four months especially…but, for some years now, I would say I’ve really been on this music grind…Pristine was kind of the moment where I was able to let loose and talk my ‘ish’ a little bit…just me being comfortable…and really coming out like, unapologetic.” – Soleille
“Pristine” showcases her natural singing abilities and is a testament to her talents as a lyricist as well. The lyric video, made available on YouTube October 5th, is proof enough if your ear doesn’t catch the cleverness embedded in this high octane, no-nonsense track.
As a follow up to her “4 the Streetz” banger ft. MeMo (August 2020), Pristine features “D-Bibbs”, a good friend of Soleille, who also mixed and engineered the recording. The duo go back and forth with supreme confidence, trading powerful verses with excellent cadence and delivery. Soleille continues the assault in her second verse:
“…and it ain’t no thang thang…We pull up and hop out…My bark be on Great Dane …have you going insane…I give them the go and they up in your driveway…No boo.
We on no games…So talk to me nice, Fore we show you how we bang.” – Soleille
Mixing credit aside, we must also acknowledge the quality in D-Bibbs’ verses. The synergy between him and Soleille within this collaboration is undeniable. The chemistry truly feels genuine and resembles that of rhythmic dance, each person vibing off of the other.
So who exactly is Soleille? A poet? Rapper? Singer? Song-Writer? Try all of the above and then some as she is a true artist whose multiple talents will not allow her to be boxed into one category. She is multi-faceted, like a “pristine” diamond and constantly sharpening her skills like the edges of a “princess cut.” Making quite the impression after only a short time on the scene, it’s no wonder she’s been dubbed, “Queen of the DMV”. Keep up with Soleille by following her on Instagram, and be on the lookout for all of her future projects on YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
