Stoic & Reyan | “DUMMY,” A Wavy, Expressive Project
Stoic and Reyan’s latest album, “DUMMY,” is the newest fire project you need to experience. The Staten Island duo works in such a cohesive fashion, allowing the project to feel and sound polished from top to bottom. They even have some star-studded features from Pro Era associates Nyck Caution, and CJ Fly to name a few. That said, Rap Fiesta is hype to welcome the dynamic duo to the platform!
The ten-track project features unique, wavy beats produced by Stoic, an experienced producer in the music game. On top of that, Reyan adds a little sauce to the project with endless clever bars. Each song is a musical masterpiece consisting of Stoic and Reyan simply doing their thing.
The album starts with a track entitled “INSHALLAH.” Although this track starts out a little lowkey, Stoic and Reyan are quick to bring the energy to the scene. Rapid bars highlighted by a powerful beat flood your ears before you have time to comprehend what’s happening.
The track is only two minutes, but Stoic and Reyan suck you in and prepare you for the rest of the project. “INSHALLAH” is undoubtedly the best way the duo could have started “DUMMY.”
Other tracks on the project show Reyan’s ability to paint a picture for his audience. One such example is “SUBWAY LUV.” The two-and-a-half-minute song features a smitten Reyan telling a story about a girl on the subway who caught his attention.
Although the rapper tries desperately to get her attention and hopes she feels the same way, the song tells a different story. Regarding the beat, Stoic lays down a chill, soulful vibe with an old-school rap feel. Overall, the song is a superb display of the duo’s artistic versatility and story-telling abilities.
These are only a handful of songs on the pair’s album “DUMMY.” But trust us, from top to bottom, Stoic and Reyan have created a project that is incredibly easy to listen to and appreciate. You can feel music is something that comes to the duo naturally. And this laidback cadence is felt throughout the entire project.
Regarding the inspiration for the project, the motivation was different between Stoic and Reyan. For Stoic, the mixtape “1999” by Joey Bada$$ and “late night chopped cheeses” served as the inspiration for creativity. Reyan, on the other hand, was inspired by the music he had been listening to for a few years.
Soul sample-heavy, hard-hitting raps. I think the Griselda, Earl, and Ye influences really came to light on this one, Reyan, regarding his inspiration for the album.
“DUMMY” also features several other talented artists alongside Stoic and Reyan. For instance, Jabu Graybeal, Rahel, CJ Fly, and others add a touch of their creative energy to various tracks. All of the incredible features only elevate “DUMMY” to a different level and give it a more unique feel.
Make sure you follow Stoic and Reyan on Instagram so you can know exactly when new music drops. The duo aims to continue creating expressive music together while promoting “DUMMY.”
