Tr4gic | “Tragedy The Tape 2”, 20 Minutes of Bops
Tr4gic out of NY has made his way back on Rap Fiesta with the drop of his latest project “Tragedy The Tape 2”. He was last seen making waves with his popularly hard-hitting single “Party“, and even dropped a plethora of projects & singles in between that time. A clear sign of an artist who is famished, and is hungry to put his pen to the pad in the creation of more hits. He did just that with the 7-track project he released this past October 2nd. His flow is New York, and his grit is influential. Tr4gic is an artist who has tints of the most influential old school NY rappers but brings a flavor with it all his own. It’s refreshing to see that style alive & well, nowadays artists like Tr4gic enter the scene far and few.
He kicks off the tape with “Magic”, as beautiful sounds rip through the beat canvas and all that can be felt is the cohesiveness of punchy lyrics & and rich-organ chords. He switches up his flow up many times to keep the listener on his toes throughout the track. He begins his verses with a smooth, and direct flow, but when the chorus hits he lets some shine show. He shimmies off a few falsetto notes in the chorus that makes you witness to his impressive versatility. He then follows these records with “Leaving a Mark” featuring Mellow Piff, and “Riding for My City” featuring Afterthought. Both featured artists on Tr4gic’s hit record, “Party”, as he brings back the familiar bar slayers on two records where they shine. Mellowpiff brought a gritty Lil Uzi sound to “Leaving a Mark” and impressed with the 16 he brought. Another record that will have the crowd synced together & in total harmony with the symphony Tr4gic pieced together.
“Riding for My City”, takes a more bittersweet, ominous approach. The lyrical content that Tr4gic lays out on this is a proud representation of his native Brooklyn. As a member of that community, you have to be hype about this record. To have an artist come out and rep your area as hard this, it has to make you a fan. With nutrient heavy bars, and energetic passion- Afterthought & Tr4gic promote unity on this record, and that’s a topic everyone can get behind. He’s got a ton of records for everyone on this tape, and the next record, “Movie”, featuring Arun Desai plays to that. With a more pop-rap record, he brings in an artist who contrasts Tr4gic’s gritty sound and provides a saucy RnB vocal that will get you bumping. This record has to be one of the strongest of the tape for its replayability and overall light-heartedness.
Never ceasing to be surprised, it seems as if he switches the style up on every track. He channels back to his old school calling with “Strong”. You’ll hear a ton of inspired Big L, young Jay Z, and the 2000s hit choruses that we’re accustomed to from the Ja Rule days. It’s less than 2 minutes long, but Tr4gic intended it to be short & sweet so fans would be heavy on that replay button- and he was right. All in all, “Tragedy The Tape 2”, is as long as a 20-minute episode of Naruto & slaps from cover to cover. Next time you feel like getting a quick fix of a project that is short, sweet & bangs- you know where to turn to. The way the kid works this artist works, we can definitely expect more heaters in the short future. Be sure to follow Tr4gic on Instagram, and stream this project on your favorite digital streaming platform until we get blessed with the next body of work from the BK artist.
