Turkish Royale | “Takeoff”
Turkish Royale is back on Rap Fiesta with a song titled “Takeoff.” The beat selection pays homage to Pop Smoke, who passed away in mid-February and established the drill sound before this unfortunate time. On “Takeoff,” Royale crossovers between a bouncy and a mile-a-minute cadence. Lyrically, Royale speaks about irrational motives and thoughts that others have about making a buck. But, he would instead make an honest living. He raps, “Money talk, a lot of conversations/But the Situations got a lot to say/Just follow the code, it ain’t about dough/It’s about finding a better way.” In the next bars, Royale also unveils a bit about his past, saying “It’s a different kind of war when you livin poor/I ain’t fuckin with the law when they get involved/Man I had so many fines, I coulda used for the bills but they wanna see us rot down to the core.”
As the song progresses, Royale sheds light on his “work hard and think smarter” mindset. Because he’s knee-deep in the rhymes, he’s attained much success (and of course band-wagoners). Yet Royale remains unfazed and bids them adieu. He’s on a completely different route and won’t stoop down to a clout chaser’s progress in life. Before “Takeoff” ends, Royale speaks on other heavy topics like hard labor, the government’s exploitation, and his views on fame. P.S: he gives it a big middle finger and goes to say that he only wants the dollars.
