V.Era | ‘Heartbreak’, Enticing And Entrancing
The enticing and entrancing R&B sensation V.Era dropped her deeply emotional single ‘Heartbreak’. The song features both KIDNEXTDOOR and Damian Jones. All three artists are on the rise and they definitely nailed the sad vibe with ‘Heartbreak’. The track is produced by Ocean Beats and engineered by KIDNEXTDOOR as well. V.Era gives Rap Fiesta some exclusive details on what inspired her to make a more sad song, “It’s based on a true story. It’s my life. Music is therapeutic so I’m just venting, honestly.” We had our analysts at Rap Fiesta dissect the track and we couldn’t agree more. V.Era has crazy talented vocals, but her lyrics in the song have an entire story in them. Her singing really captures those emotions, and her lyrics paint a picture of her past.
…Daddy didn’t care,
No, daddy wasn’t there to rescue me in my time of need,
He been trying to stay young, still up in the streets,
Mama thought that she could do it on her own,
Couldn’t bear being alone. – V.Era
You hear a classic vinyl crackle in the intro. The listener is first greeted with raw acoustics, V.Era’s voice complimented by some guitar chords. Her simplicity here nicely sets up the rest of the record. She breaks into falsetto a lot, singing a vivid arrangement of notes in a way that really transported me to Giveon’s vocals at the beginning of Drake’s ‘Chicago Freestyle’. After eight bars, the crackle disappears and V.Era’s powerful voice rings out with the chorus:
“Kept filling them scrips, oh,
Drowning myself, and out of my dome,
Drinking my pain away…” – V.Era
V.Era uses the majority of the three and a half minute ballad to tell us a story about hardship, addiction, and well, feeling heartbroken. A little past halfway, KIDNEXTDOOR and Damian Jones go in one after another. All artists contribute to making something melancholic and melodic. After helping us pick the song apart, V.Era gave Rap Fiesta some insight on who’s behind the voice in a mini interview.
