Vaughn Lambo | ‘Time’s Up’ Visual Possesses A Gangster Narrative
Rap Fiesta’s favorite upcoming Michigan artist Vaughn Lambo is back at it again with a 9 minute music video titled, ‘Times Up’. I hesitate to call it a music video because it goes beyond that. The film directed and filmed by Monroe W plays along the story line of a meticulously planned heist while continuously diving from cut scenes of the attempted robbery, and Vaughn Lambo’s gangster persona. The introduction of the video is narrated beautifully over scenes of Vaughn Lambo and his crew planning the robbery into a faultless transition of executing it. It’s a pleasure to see artists incorporate well written scripts into their music, and do it well. This aspect of his music takes the song a step further and truly gives the listener a deeper understanding of what was intended by the Flint rapper.
Right from the jump, his energy is gangster. He imposes his verses with unconcerned regard for people’s emotions and channels his energy into the sole purpose of acquiring commas. The chorus, “If it aint about money then fuck that” clearly shows you what type of cloud Vaughn is on. He is willing to go to any length to obtain his paper like any true gangster would. In one scene, he is literally seen carrying a lit torch and lighting the streets with it. A perfect visual to showcase his severed attitude towards peace and calmness.
In perfect unison with the video, his vocals on the chorus become distorted at different points in the robbery to emulate this demonic approach to robbing individuals of their belongings. His verses go hand in hand with this approach, he attacks with aggressive and controlled bars- such as those similar to his calculated movements in the robbery. His verbal attacks are fast and hard. The production of the beat created by Vespxcci continues to set the scene with a simple, but trap delicate chord progression that lay’s the canvas for Vaughn Lambo to beautifully illustrate over.
All in all, this was an amazing form of artistry from Vaughn Lambo and show’s his dedication as an artist. It’s time to start paying more attention to the blossoming star. Watch his music video, ‘Time’s Up’, here:
