Worldwide Wednesday | “FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD”
If there is a will, there is a way.
That’s what recording artist Worldwide Wednesday symbolically foretells in every song that he releases.
Taking the good with the bad, the R&B/hip-hop musician, producer, and engineer garners inspiration from his own life and illustrates a more significant meaning of the silver lining. He also makes light of ordeals with banter-like rhymes and enlightening lyrics.
“I am an interpersonal artist, writing stories on my everyday life and experiences. I leave myself vulnerable for others to relate, and I hope to inspire those who think they may be lost. I want them to understand there is ALWAYS a way.” he says.
The name “Wednesday” originated from joking around about retaking music seriously with a good friend of his. The musician told his friend that if he were to go back to making music as something other than a hobby, he would name himself Wednesday and put out a project called This Week. A week later, Worldwide Wednesday released a self-produced song under the alias “Wednesday,” and it got more than 11K views.
“That’s when I took the name “Wednesday” as a tipping point to my confidence within the industry,” he continues.
Worldwide Wednesday started writing and recording in high school, sometimes out of his basement closet. Over time, he met engineers and others in the industry and released a few mixtapes. He took a hiatus to learn the back ends of the industry, like engineering and producing. By nineteen-years-old, he got his own recording studio in Lancaster, PA. Then, the budding musician went on to intern at Atlantic Records. After years of interning, he moved down to Miami, FL, to go to school and continue his music career.
Earlier on, the wordsmith drew inspiration from Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. Now, he admires female artists because of the melodies and vibes they protrude in their music. Before hopping in the booth, he needs to catch a vibe.
“The vibe can be caught by the beats I hear, the people that are in the studio, or even the lighting.”
His latest record, “FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD,” encourages others to seize the day. After all, “Life is right, life is wrong, life is life,” so why not take control of your destiny?
The instrumental, made by Sama, is a fun, spacey, energetic trap-like offering with xylophone riffs, pulsating basslines, and playful piano loops.
In two minutes and forty-nine seconds, the versatile musician invites listeners into his world. He introduces his day ones and even speaks on his work ethic, ways with women, and taking in all that life offers. Elsewhere, he briefly talks about battling demons but never showing this to others.
In a hazy auto-croon, he delivers, “Me and all my dogs will make it, run it. Man, don’t stay complacent.”
Secondly, he spits, “Devil in my head gotta leave me alone, say I’m not right. Well, go ahead prove me wrong.”
“This record moreso introduces the team I run with to the world,” Worldwide Wednesday adds. “My sole message in any record I do is to allow others to peak into my life and learn or be inspired by the things I do or say. This record is strictly for motivation.”
The record, for Worldwide Wednesday, was created organically.
“When I heard the beat, I immediately knew it was something I had to snap on, but in a unique way.” Worldwide Wednesday continues. “I knew that since the beat was so hard, I had to write in a few quotes that people could use as Instagram captions. When the record came to a finish, Sama tied up some loose ends.”
