Worldwide Wednesday | ‘SLW DWN’, Melodically Powered
I love listening to a song where you can tell the artist is well versed in their pallet of music. When an artist is able to draw inspiration from a variety of sounds and blend genres together, unique work is often created. This feeds our hunger for tracks that embody the future of music. Worldwide Wednesday did exactly this with his new track ‘SLW DWN’. This is not the first time this artist has impressed us here at Rap Fiesta by making a high-quality song capturing how music is evolving.
Upon my first listen, I was welcomed by an atmospheric production. Layers of background vocals floated around adding an instant dynamic feel to the song. There is an array of sounds appearing in the song that are panned in different ways. This allows each unique sound to be heard and catch your attention rather than crowding the song. Different from the harmonies and ad-libs, this artist utilized slightly distorted vocals that almost acted as a pad to flow with the beat. From synths to sparkles, this track had a calm, compelling, and airy feel to it.
Even with the heavily filled production, there was still space for the vocals to stand out. Worldwide Wednesday utilizes some autotune with his background vocals and also pitches down his voice for a break adding lower end frequencies. This magnetizes his audience to the track by creating versatility, and again, something new to our ears. His voice and the production work together seamlessly to create an ethereal feel.
Worldwide Wednesday tells a story throughout the song using imagery and metaphors. Although there is emotion within the content, he maintains a lighter feel on his end by expressing wanting to be carefree. We see this when he says,
Pockets so fat and my bitch got ass,
We ain’t getting younger so we’re living life fast.

Overall, this diverse artist did an incredible job of incorporating elements from hip hop, pop, and alternative music. With his extensive experience in production engineering, we see how he is capable of pulling together such a pleasing track.
