Wowashwow | “Heatwave”
Wowashwow fights back haters with lyrical ammo and self-assurance in “Heatwave.” She flows with ease over a peppy hip-hop beat full of live instruments.
“Heatwave is a song with two different perspectives,” says Wowashwow. “On one hand, you have a song that’s meant to make your soul. One that comes alive and fills you with the confidence of a lioness. But it’s also talking about the environments weed can grow up in.”
Showcasing a high level of confidence, the femcee lets it be known that the smack talk doesn’t faze her.
“You want stop the way Jah give me shine/But you can not stop a beast dead in it’s prime/Living like a legend and the stories overdue,” she spits. “So fuck that scripted shit VH1 fed you/So keep on sleeping on the way that I rhyme and it gets you ginsued up every single time.”
Shortly after, the rapstress reveals her character and stance on unwarranted violence. Being more of a lover than a fighter, she raps
“See, I believe in love peace and spreading positivity, just the way the Dutch burns down with the canna leaf.”
Her cool, calm, and collected demeanor is followed by lyrics about a love for cannabis.
By the second verse, Wowashwow forewarns those who test her gangster. While they might be bothered for some unknown reason, the rapper alludes to focusing on her career.
“And while you getting mad I’m still stacking dough/They wanted the fire man I am the source/Cause sleep in the lion’s den, I am cause I am a roar,” she spits.
The song closes with Wowashwow declaring that she’s been IT.
