Yeshua Alexander | “Born Guilty (feat. BOOSIE BADAZZ, Da Project Baby, and Duh Franchize)”
Today on Rap Fiesta, we will be shedding light on Yeshua Alexander, a multi-hyphenate Cameroonian American-Bamiléké recording artist who’s solidifying his spot in the hip-hop realm because of his different approaches to all genres.
Defining himself as a god, but not THE God, Yeshua Alexander says, “I came from my father In heaven. That’s greatness.” The moniker he chose is his government name because it speaks volumes.
His musical journey was ignited by a concert he attended in Boston in 2002. It also helped that Yeshua Alexander was moved by P. Diddy, Loon, and Black Rob’s work ethic and music. Ultimately, Yeshua Alexander is inspired by the world and everything in it.
“Seeing those guys at that time made up my mind about becoming a star in the music industry,” he adds. “I met P. Diddy and shook his hand. I spoke to Black Rob backstage outside before getting ready to perform. I was excited about how Loon was fresh, and all the females were around him. It was exciting times then.”
Yeshua Alexander’s latest single, “Born Guilty (feat. BOOSIE BADAZZ, Da Project Baby, and Duh Franchize),” is a trap symphony offering that finds the musicians speaking briefly on their upbringing as well as the dangers of racial profiling. The catchy chorus even brings light as to why it’s an endangerment to African Americans worldwide. Duh Franchize sings with a passionate range, “I was born guilty for the color of my skin.”
“My cousin, who goes by Drought King, is currently incarcerated, has a tattoo on his arm that reads ‘Born Guilty.’ I told my cousin I would be recording a song titled ‘Born Guilty,’ he says about the song’s creation. “I made a few calls to piece this together, like a puzzle. Now, we are with the finished product, ‘Born Guilty.'”
The first rapper to sling around some rhymes is Da Project Baby, who speaks on what it was like growing up, saying, “Gotta hustle, tryna make a dollar outta ten cents/Had to stay at granny’s spot cause mama duke couldn’t pay the rent.” As he continues his verse, he explains that being a specific skin complexion means you’re automatically seen as a threat.
“Catch a case if you black, they’re gonna bang me off the rip,” he spits. Not to mention, Da Project Baby drops some gems about how to stay ten toes down and to obtain success.
Matching the theme’s energy, Yeshua Alexander gives credit for his mother, a black queen, who birthed a black king. Afterward, he explains what it’s actually like living in the hood. He also challenges the notion of Blacks residing in these tough areas. “Grew up in the ghetto, with murders and crack feins/This is real life, this ain’t no acting,” he delivers along with, “Product of my environment, we in the hood like some good Ye.”
Lastly, BOOSIE BADAZZ keeps the momentum going, saying right off the bat, “Yeah, I’m born guilty cause of my complexion.” Deeper into his verse, he touches on some issues in the new generation and warns the smack-talkers. Elsewhere, he pays his respects toward George Floyd, who unfortunately passed due to a cop’s ill actions.
“Collaborating with these guys was something magical, something historical, something monumental, something that will withstand the test of time,”Yeshua Alexander says about working with his collaborators on the song.
“The message behind this song is simple; Be loud, Be proud, Be heard. I am what my ancestor’s dreamed about! We are ‘Born Guilty.'”
Yeshua Alexander is planning on releasing 11 albums in different genres of music all at once and will release his new single featuring Lil Uzi Vert titled “My Time.” Be on the lookout for this record and other recording materials in 2021.
