Young Deji | ‘English Sounds’
Taylor Gang signee Young Deji takes a sophisticated approach when shooting his shot in English Sounds. He wows this special lady with words of devotion and honesty. In other words, Young Deji expresses his feelings and how he intends to keep a smile on her face. Songs like “Fish N Chips (feat. Chevy Woods)” show audiences how Young Deji lays everything out on the table for his sweetheart to indulge in.
Another sensible part of this project comes from his falsetto-esque register. The tone itself brings attention to the message he’s relaying. With him, his love can find her sweet escape. All she has to do is take a chance on him.
His raw, charismatic wordplay is met with a range of R&B, lo-fi, and jazzy instrumentals. Listeners can expect to hear a sample from Craig David‘s “Fill Me In” as well.
Collaborators on the 7-track project include Chevy Woods, Tyla Yaweh, and Wiz Khalifa.
Young Deji is relatively new to the Taylor Gang Ent. family and has stayed on the radar since. He first turned heads with his famous YouTube dance moves to “The Woah. He also earned a loyal fanbase after dropping Enjoymenting in early 2021. Not too long ago, he joined Wiz Khalifa and Feezy on “Oh Wow.” The track has accumulated over 1M streams.
Others are proclaiming that English Sounds is timeless, groovy, and has a fire vibe. Subsequently, they’re naming him a young legend. One standout record from the LP is “London Bridge.”
Taking inspiration from the nursery rhyme for the chorus “London Bridge,” finds Young Deji reassuring his sweetheart that he won’t break her heart. He only asks for the same in return. In hindsight, he’s wearing his heart on his sleeve. He opens up about how much he likes her and how they should take a chance on love.
Over the edgy R&B beat, the melodic artist delivers lines like, “I can be all you need/Please just don’t burn on me,” and “Know the grass is greener on my side, so you can never play.”
He’s ultimately swooned by this Queen, recanting sweet nothings to her from beginning to end.
