Ziggy Zombie | “Gossip Girl”
Ziggy Zombie shows the power behind owning your narrative in “Gossip Girl.” The serene Aman Arora production is met with lofi arrangements and a steady baseline.
From a lyrical standpoint, the New Jersey rapper speaks about finding light in the darkness. Although life tends to knock us down, Ziggy Zombie stands tall and prospers through it all. Moreover, the rapper keeps his nose to the grindstone. Instead of letting obstacles get the best of him, he creates his own lane.
In the hook, he even spits:
“Life is a bitch, but I know she worth it/Ima fuck her good and make sure she squirts.”
By the first verse, Ziggy Zombie gives an opp a reality check. Calling out society for being too invested in other people’s lives, he suggests they mind the business that pays them. Secondly, the rapper challenges this anonymous person to do some self-reflection. Doing so could bring more perspective to their lives.
He spits, “Always building them bridges just to watch them burn/Maybe them Ls are just lessons that you got to learn.”
Elsewhere in the verse, Ziggy Zombie speaks about self-improvement. Even though he’s being watched closely, he intends to create greatness behind the scenes. This is because he refuses to be held back by others’ negativity.
“Working on myself I been lowkey/Hope they never see the lower version of me,” he raps. “They on my back like a jersey/That’s the Jersey in me /I’m tryna fly like a bird don’t put your burdens on me.”
The second verse finds Ziggy Zombie referencing Pootie Tang. Aside from this, he uses witty punchlines and lyrically mirrors positive affirmations. Not to mention, he details a moment when a missed opportunity became a blessing in disguise. In the beginning, the elite lyricist admits that giving up looks appealing. However, these temporary feelings dissipate, and he recalls why he’s putting in work, to begin with.
“I’m on the fence/Cause the grass looks green on the other side/Bitch I could Pimp a Butterfly,” he raps. Ziggy Zombie also says, “Hey I’m Puty Tang with the sada tay/I heard shawty sweeter than marmalade/Thought I would shoot my shot/Had to hit her with that fall away/I don’t need that bad energy over this way.”
